Calm….

There is a new fun challenge up at Mixed Media Place. They want to see you art inspired by the emotion Calm! They say “Why don’t you tell us what CALM means to you? Where do you look for it? What sort of thoughts come to your head when you hear the word?”

I love the colour blue and to me it is my calm. I love to create with shades of blue and find most of the time its the colour I reach for! I made a tag using blues for this challenge….

I glued down some die cut hearts I had been given. These were beautiful shapes but the colours, although lovely, just didn’t work for the tag (they were brown and cream and shimmery). So I put a layer of gesso over them and then when this was dry inked up the entire tag with peacock feathers distress ink. I then used salty ocean distress ink on just the raised hearts part. I stamped a background stamp over the entire tag and I love how it just mostly got the raised hearts! I outlined the hearts using a white paint marker.

I inked up a die cut in gold to mount my feathers on so that they stood out. I stamped and die cut the Waltzingmouse feathers and added some gold and glitter to these. I stamped the sentiment and tore the paper to size and inked it all gold. This was adhered using a mini stapler.

This tag calmed me down while working on it as I found it so relaxing!
