Alter Something….

Welcome to another challenge from the  Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog. Just before I get started on my post there is a slight change being made to the challenges:

****************

From this weeks challenge our challenges will be monthly, we’ve made this decision for a few reasons..

1. It gives you more time to work on your projects – so many people say to me they just missed the challenge because they got caught up with work / family etc… we’re here to help! :o )
2. It gives us more time to bring you fab inspiration!
3. We can offer prizes for different categories – from now on entries using or incorporating Sarah Hurley products will be eligible for another prize as well as the main top 3 (yay!)
4. We can talent spot and ask some of our winners to join us for a one month guest position contributing a project to the challenge blog
5. this is the biggie!! we are bringing you something new and fabulous launching on the 3rd September and we are working flat out to achieve this – you’re going to LOVE it!! Keep a look out here on the blog or over on my Facebook page for more news!

Everything else remains the same, you still don’t have to use Sarah Hurley products (unless you would like to be considered for the additional category) though of course we’d love to see what you can do with them! You can make any creation you like be it a tag, card, scrapbook page, altered art, ATC or even cross stitch! and we will still be having lots of fab sponsors and prizes! Thank you all so much for entering the challenges, we just love to look at all your work and hopefully this extra time will mean we will have even more of your fabulous creations to look at!

Now, public service announcement over, and on to the challenge. This month the challenge is to alter something. I altered a little trinket box from a small ornament. It was very dark and dull but was a fin shape and had a very cute opening. I painted it a pale blue inside and out, and then used papers from the Retro Home kit to give it a cute overhaul!

I adore these hex pattern papers, I have a thing for all things bee related. I covered the box panels with the paper after inking the edges with Peacock Feathers distress ink (I am in love with this ink colour!!) I added some blue hexagons I had cut out of the papers for another project to add a bit more interest. I then die cut a tag and some flourishes for the top of the box and finished with a Wild Orchid Crafts flower, the colour of which matched the papers perfectly! I also lined the bottom of the inside of the box with the paper too.

Now I have an adorable little box to use for a small gift or maybe just to keep and store something in on my desk!

Thanks for stopping by today. We can’t wait to see what you create for our Alter Something challenge!

Say it in yellow….

Over at Annabelle Stamps this week they want you to Say it in Yellow! So naturally I did as I was told….

I am not quite sure its yellow enough though?! I inked up a card blank with mustard colour distress ink and then used a really cool vintage paper piercer that my dad gave me. I stamped the grass from the All things grow set on the butterflies and then inked the sky in blue.  I used the sentiment from the same set. I had to add in a sprinkle since I have become so bloody addicted to them!! Seriously, if you havnt tried them out yet you are missing out!! (pssssst – you can find them here!!). So there you have it. I said it in yellow, and I loved it, its such a cheery colour and reminds me that summer is on the way. Its totally worth having yellow finger tips for!

PS: My friend Katie is back in the blog world and rumour has it she is going to be show casing some pretty awesome new stuff over at her blog, head on over and check her fab work out!!

One for the girls….

I made this for the first ever challenge over at Pocket full of Posies. The theme was one for the girls. I think this has to be the girliest card I have ever made. I really am not a very girly girl so I find it hard sometimes making really girlie things! I made all the flowers on this card by stamping them out in two colours and then painstakingly cutting them all out. I then stuck the small ones on top of some big ones with foam dots and stuck them all on with foam dots.  I put little blue pearls in the center of some of the flowers too. The fairy image is a wonderful free digi from Steady On. I coloured her with colouring pencils as I dont have anything fancier!!

Hope you like it, and good luck to Pocket Full of Posies and their new blog!! :D

Just in time….

I made this for the challenge over at CAS-tastic challenges, it was a colour challenge of blue, yellow and a neutral. I wanted to embellish the ribbon a bit more but ran out of adhesive! I had this made a few days ago but its been a disaster of a few days, my bunny is sick and has needed constant nursing. I am just getting this on on time, phew!
