This swan is such a show off, look at him go. He did this a few days ago and did it again yesterday to me too. Yesterday however I got splashed with the water from his wings as he did it!

Show off….
Deep water
This sign made me laugh for two reasons. Reason 1 – The water was about knee height, so not too deep at all, even for a baby. Reason 2 – The water was full of rubbish, old traffic cones, plastic bags, and general crap, toped off by a nice scummy layer of green bubbling algae. Not something one would want to take a dip in!
Water, water, everywhere….
Yet not a single drop to spare. Ireland has a huge amount of rain fall, and yet we all have no water at the moment. The Big Freeze froze our water pipes, and The Big Thaw cracked them. Its been a week since the thaw and all of a sudden our house has no water. How did the pipe suddenly break? Bah! On top of all that, while watching a city planner being interviewed on the news he stated that 45% of the water in Ireland’s water reservoirs is wasted – through leaks in the reservoirs etc. How bad is that. This country is a joke!
Snowy roots..
The snow continues in Ireland. We had more snow fall last night and as a result our airport is closed – again. The police are telling people not to travel, the schools are closed for nearly a week and we are starting to run low on water supplies, not to mention salt and grit. You would imagine we had no warning about this weather wouldn’t you? Especially since a milder version of it happened last year, and the met office warned us before the first snow hit. Go figure!
Rite of passage
Baby Pumpkin
This is a picture of my baby pumpkin. I have a feeling it is not going to be ready in time for Halloween! The picture looks very green, but thats nothing to do with processing. The grass in my garden is really really green, and so is the pumpkin plant. You cant see it in this picture but the pumpkin plant has grown half way across my garden. My garden is about 20ft wide, so work out how big a plant it is! Its gotten to the stage where I am wary about going down the garden to feed and water it – in case it decides to eat me ;p
I didnt know elephants can swim..
I didnt know elephants can swim….this is what I said as we watched these two baby elephants playing around in the water. My husband just gave me a look, duh of course they can, they cross rivers and even lakes all the time in the wild. Well what I meant was, yeah I know they can doggy paddle, but these two were dunking each other under the water and diving under for minutes at a time. I just didnt realise they liked water that much.
They just dont come to mind as creatures that look like they were built for swimming. But I guess they do have a built in snorkel!!
