Shades of Blue!

This months challenge at Sarah Hurley Challenges is all about ‘Shades of Blue’! A few of us on this team seem to have a love of all things blue, and shades of blue. So we are celebrating it, let us see your projects including lots of blue! There is some fantastic inspiration from the team, including our new team members!!

Kit used – Steampunk & also Ink Splashes Brushes by Sarah Hurley. I used the Steampunk kit and pulled out all the blue elements I fancied out of them. I did need some kraft in there for contrast too! I added the ink splatters as no good creation happens without a bit of a mess, right?! I love creating digitally, its so fun and easy, and best of all – no fussy cutting by hand :)

Make sure to stop by the challenge blog and check out the DT’s work and then join in the fun challenge too!

Digital Media Fun

I had some fun in Photoshop last night, creating ‘just for fun’. I started with some papers from the Sarah Hurley Designs Steampunk kit. I love those Moustache papers! I also used a set of Steampunk brushes from the Graphics Fairy. I had lots of fun digitally ripping papers, layering them, adding text over them, and then having fun with the brushes. I added a fun quote then and called it done. Fun mixed media without an ounce of mess – does that still count as mixed media?

if the facts dont fit the theory

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you are having crafty fun!

Day 8!!

Day 8 is here and you can see Tim’s day 8 tag here. It is a fantastic Steampunk inspired tag today and very untraditional Christmas tag, but fantastic none the less!!

I got very inspired by Tim’s tag and used some of the techniques he used on his tag. I didnt have any of the stamps, cog charms, pen nibs, light bulbs etc that Tim used on his tag. So as usual I improvised.

I used a paint dabber as a resist on the tag and then inked it up and fade stamped a clock stamp. I cut some cogs out of light card and inked them up to look old and rusted. I added some antique tickets and a hinge die for a bit more steampunk effect. My ’25′ and ‘Joy’ were inked up and then added glossy accents to them for more dimension.

Its is not very Christmassy but it was great fun inking and painting all the elements and again working with what I had!

I loved getting inky with this tag today :)

Show your style….

This week at Paper Play Challenges our challenge to show us your distinctive style. What style are you most passionate about that and reflects you at your best? We want to see you create a project that really reflects you! Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp – with a $15 Voucher up for grabs.

(Please note: This is a voucher code that entitles the winner to a $15 saving off their order in Simon Says Stamp,  P+P charges will still apply unless the conditions are met to earn free P+P,  please check here if you would like to see these conditions)
Even though I set the challenge for this week I had a bit of trouble with it as I tend to be very varied in my styles. I decided that steampunk was what really reflected me best and then had fun inking, distressing and generally getting messy :) I made myself a book marker to go with the journal I am currently making myself.
Make sure to head over to Paper Play to check out the DT’s fabulous creations – make sure to join in the fun and show us your work too!

Quoth the raven….

Well I cant quote the raven on this one because I shall be using him forever, not nevermore!! I love the work of Poe so when I won this LaBlanche raven stamp from Cards n Scraps I was so delighted. I am using him in a work on progress that I cant wait to get done and reveal. The raven is just perfect for the project , and even though others may find him creepy, I love him! This tag was just me trying him out and seeing what he looks like. I embossed him onto the tag and over stamped a script stamp all around him. I stamped the script stamp off onto some scrap paper first so I could have it faded looking. I stamped some cogs using some stamps I made myself from the cogs Tim Holtz die and added a paper flower with a cog in the center just for a bit extra steampunk-ish-ness! (apologies about making up a word there but I am sure you all understand!)
