Double challenge!

When I sat down to create something for the Skipping Stones Challenge I gave myself a extra challenge – to get rid of the pile of scraps on my desk while doing it! This was quite a challenge in the end as the scraps were from about 3 different projects so were all very different colours and didnt work with each other. So I picked the colours that I liked the most and then realised there was not enough of them to make a card. So I tried to incorporate the sketch into a tag….

I used the SSD grunge set for the wood grain back ground and then used the poem stamp from the uplifting set for the sentiment. Love these sets!!

Creating with Maps!

It was recently my friend Timi’s birthday so naturally I made her a card. I decided to use images of vintage maps for on the card. I used a Hungarian map (where she is from) and an Irish map (where she now lives). Dublin and Pécs both have a little star on them – her home town and where she lives now! Both were vintage map images I printed from the internet and then I aged and distressed them some more. The colour scheme is greens as that is Timi’s favourite colour.

I used the Skipping Stones Designs sketch for the layout of the card and also used  a Skipping Stones Design stamp set for the sentiment – the Grunge Set.

I am also entering this into the Moxie Fab World Map to Your Heart Challenge.

Happy Birthday Timi!!

Floating high

Yay, I have finally gotten a chance to play along with Skipping Stones Designs sketch challenge. It seems like its been ages since I got to join in the challenge. I have been sick for the last two weeks so have dragged myself out of my sick bed on one or two occasions to try make myself feel better and have made one or two things. I usually have cards made pretty fast but its taking me ages lately, blame is on the germs :/ Hopefully I am on the mend and will be back to normal soon though. Well as normal as I can be :) Anyway here is the fantastic sketch we had to play with:

I saw the sketch and was going through my stamps in my head thinking about what I could do. Then I had one of those eureka moments and leapt out of bed* and headed for my craft room. (*Translated: sat up, coughed up a lung and shuffled like a 90 year old to my craft room). Here is what I came up with:

I had great fun paper piecing the hot air balloon and inking up the sky. Its hard to tell in the image but the clouds have been defined with a pearl paint dabber so they have some texture and subtle shimmer.

Guest designer!!

I was delighted to be asked to be a guest designer this month over at Skipping Stones Designs!! I love their stamps and love their challenges and always try to play along each week.

The sketches this month are by the amazing Amy Sheffer. So here is this weeks sketch….

I used the Grunge set to create a beautiful green background with the wood grain stamp from the set for my three pannels. The grunge set is fantastic for creating backgrounds!! I created the banner and stamped the beautiful sentiment from the Heartsong set. I used the beautiful bird from the same set for on my circle.

Make sure you head over to the Skipping Stones Design blog to check out the rest of the guest design team and fantastic new regular design team’s fabulous work!!

I feel nice….

As James Brown says, I feel nice :) I finally got some me crafting time in, and it felt great! I have been so busy with the magazine lately that any crafting I have been doing is for it. So getting to play along with my favourite challenge was nice, and I managed it just in time too!

This weeks sketch was a fun one:

And here is my interpretation. I used a black and white paper scrap, a blue paper scrap and a clay heart that I made myself. The sentiment is from the Dandelion Dreams set as is the stamping inside the card….

Bracketed..

The new sketch this week at Skipping Stones Designs is a lovely CAS one….

I actually had some chipboard brackets I didnt know what to do with. This sketch was just perfect for it! I painted them with a pearl paint dabber. I glimmer misted some white card with diamond mist and mounted some purple card on it. Added the brackets and stamped the sentiment from SSD Sentimental Frames set. I love this set!
