Bookworm box

Here is another of my projects for the Sarah Hurley Lookbook Volume 3 using the Sarah Hurley Bookworm collection. I am a total bookworm so I love this collection. I altered an old box I have had for donkeys years. I inked the edges up with a copper metallic ink dabber. I then cut the papers down and matted them on the box. I used some embellishments in the kit to print and cut out and stick on the box.

Inside I used some of the tab dividers to seperate out my Journalled 365 cards – I am using the box to store these.

You can see the dividers a bit better below….

I love these Journalling cards, I like to use them as a top 5 things I loved in a week, its a great way to quickly document things!

Geeky fun!

Here are some more of my projects for the Sarah Hurley Lookbook Volume 3 using the Sarah Hurley paper packs to make some projects with. I worked with the A Few Of My Favourite things pack on these. As I said the other day I just  love these papers both the design and quality!

First up is a card I made. I wanted to have fun with a card and a bit geeky too! I used the graph paper from the kit and drew a chart on it. I had to check my math on this one with my hubby (a Phd in Physics and maths geek). It is supposed to imply that as time increases so does our love. I added some ink splatters on it to give it a authentic look. A little heart with glossy accents on it adds the finishing touch.

Next up is a mini notebook I altered the front of. I covered it in the moustache paper. I then added a little flag banner and wrote notes on this and doodled on some faux stitching. I then added some fun elements from Sarah Hurley, the cog, moustache etc.

Simple idea but cute and effective!

X marks the spot….

Another of my projects for the Sarah Hurley Lookbook Volume 3 was to use the Sarah Hurley paper packs to make some projects with. I worked with the A Few Of My Favourite things pack on these.

The paper is 200gsm, textured and a dream to work with – I genuinely love this paper, the designs are fab and the quality of the paper is just superb. I use the papers to alter a wooden box that a fancy wallet had come in (a great TK Max find!).

I distressed the map page by tearing the edges and inking up the edges too. I added some graph paper in behind the torn and curled edges. I then drew a dotted line from the ship to make it look like the course the ship was taking. I doodled a frame on the page too. Oh and added an X marks the spot too of course!

The tag is also from Sarah Hurley and I covered it with some moustache papers. I added a journey sentiment to this and distressed and inked up the edges of the tag too.

I love the papers against the deep wood colour of the box. It is the perfect place for my husband to keep some trinkets and bit and pieces in too.

Gatsby Glamour….

Another of my projects for the Sarah Hurley Lookbook Volume 3 was to create a set of cards using the superb Gatsby Kit…. I love this kit, its filled with my favourite colours and is one of my favourite periods. I created my cards digitally, layering the papers for my matting layers and adding on my elements. I then printed these and also some of the elements. I then fussy cut the elements out and foam mounted them on the cards after mounting the cards onto the card base. I added some extra flourishes and chipboard elements on some of the cards then. Oh and pearls, its not Gatsby with out pearls!!

Kit fun….

I am loving trying CAS cards lately – its a lot harder than it seems! I have used the Sarah Hurley my favourite things kit, my last few pieces of it! I couldn’t resist using the sequins on the card too, I have seen them used on a few projects by people lately and think they look quite cool. I added some hand doodling around the edges and resisted the urge to add any more!

Show some character….

This month at Sarah Hurley Challenges our challenge theme is ‘Projects with Character’ and we are lucky enough to be sponsored by one of our favourite companies - Letraset! We want to see your projects featuring a character, it can be human or animal or even supernatural!

I used an adorable freebie image that Sarah had on her blog, this cute little bunny rabbit! It came ready to colour or else pre-coloured by Sarah, and I used the pre-coloured one as I loved it!

More negative emphasis!

I am stopping by today with another entry into the Moxie Fab World Emphasise the Negative challenge. You can find the challenge here. I am finding a new found love for fussy cutting so am trying to embrace it ;p

I have used papers from a Sarah Hurley My Favourite Things Kit club. The papers are just amazing, such fantastic quality and I love the designs so I tried to just let them shine.

I used a craft knife to cut out one of the speech bubbles from the papers. I added a piece of the chevron papers onto a card base and stamped my sentiment. I then mounted the speech bubble papers on dimensional adhesive over this. I love the pop of mint green against all that grey & white!

negative space hello card

I really struggled with wanting to add more to this card. I love the CAS look but find it had to stop sometimes. I kept wanting to add more to this card, but could just not seem to find anything that added to it for me :/ I guess I just have to embrace the negative feelings I have on this and let it go :D

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you get a chance to play along in the challenge, its such a good one!
