X marks the spot….

Another of my projects for the Sarah Hurley Lookbook Volume 3 was to use the Sarah Hurley paper packs to make some projects with. I worked with the A Few Of My Favourite things pack on these.

The paper is 200gsm, textured and a dream to work with – I genuinely love this paper, the designs are fab and the quality of the paper is just superb. I use the papers to alter a wooden box that a fancy wallet had come in (a great TK Max find!).

I distressed the map page by tearing the edges and inking up the edges too. I added some graph paper in behind the torn and curled edges. I then drew a dotted line from the ship to make it look like the course the ship was taking. I doodled a frame on the page too. Oh and added an X marks the spot too of course!

The tag is also from Sarah Hurley and I covered it with some moustache papers. I added a journey sentiment to this and distressed and inked up the edges of the tag too.

I love the papers against the deep wood colour of the box. It is the perfect place for my husband to keep some trinkets and bit and pieces in too.

Shades of Blue!

This months challenge at Sarah Hurley Challenges is all about ‘Shades of Blue’! A few of us on this team seem to have a love of all things blue, and shades of blue. So we are celebrating it, let us see your projects including lots of blue! There is some fantastic inspiration from the team, including our new team members!!

Kit used – Steampunk & also Ink Splashes Brushes by Sarah Hurley. I used the Steampunk kit and pulled out all the blue elements I fancied out of them. I did need some kraft in there for contrast too! I added the ink splatters as no good creation happens without a bit of a mess, right?! I love creating digitally, its so fun and easy, and best of all – no fussy cutting by hand :)

Make sure to stop by the challenge blog and check out the DT’s work and then join in the fun challenge too!

Secret Rose Garden!

So have you heard the news? It’s Sarah & Phill’s Crafty Launch day….welcome to Secret Rose Garden! This collection is just adorable, gorgeous papers, and beautiful hand drawn style images. Have a sneak peek below….

I created this little set of cards below using the papers, the embellishments and the pre coloured digital stamps. They are just so cute!!

card set

Next I made a mixed media tag….lots of tissue paper, gel medium, inks, sprays and fun layered over the adorable papers in this collection. The clouds are from another set of the papers and I custom stamped the words on them.

dream tag

For this card I used two sheets of the papers. I cut out the cloud on the yellow papers and mounted the button patterned paper in behind it. I added some foam squares just around the opening of the cut out cloud to give dimension to the tag but glued the rest of the yellow paper flat.

fly tag

I couldn’t resist a quick Facebook Timeline cover banner either when I was done with the messy crafting….

All Sewn Up!

Sarah Hurley is releasing a fab new kit today called All Sewn Up. The kit is fantastic, loads of gorgeous sewing themed papers, in really beautiful colours, and superb embellishments too. There are some really cute journalling cards in the kit so I decided to create a mini day book to keep some little thoughts and items in.

I printed the papers double sided and cut them to 6 inches high but left them the full A4 length. I then scored these in 3 places but didn’t worry about measuring too much, I wanted lots of flaps and odd folds in it for a quirky look. I put a few pockets in the middle too to hold a stash of journalling cards.

I made a cover from kraft card and then stitched the book together….the embellishments in the kit were perfect for decorating the cover.

I used ribbon for a closure on the book to keep all those precious items inside….

And the inside pages….

The right hand side pages all fold out to leave me lots of space for notes, journalling etc….

If you like sewing themes then this is definitely the kit for you! Make sure to head over to Sarah Hurleys blog today to see all the release info and a few more creations from the Design Team too!

Digital Media Fun

I had some fun in Photoshop last night, creating ‘just for fun’. I started with some papers from the Sarah Hurley Designs Steampunk kit. I love those Moustache papers! I also used a set of Steampunk brushes from the Graphics Fairy. I had lots of fun digitally ripping papers, layering them, adding text over them, and then having fun with the brushes. I added a fun quote then and called it done. Fun mixed media without an ounce of mess – does that still count as mixed media?

if the facts dont fit the theory

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you are having crafty fun!

It’s Not a card!!

This month at Sarah Hurley Designs our challenge theme is ‘Anything but  a card”. Super fun challenge and I always find this a great one to use up lots of scraps!

I made a fun tag using lots of elements from the Sarah Hurley store, some tickets, adhesive wood grain paper, burlap, twine, and some scraps of her digital papers. I threw a scrap of washi tape in there for good measure too!

I used kraft card as my base and ran gold distress ink over it for a subtle shimmer.

Love is in the air!

I am totally over Christmas crafting now and have moved on to the next holiday, Valentines day! I have used the I Love Paris digital kit to create a new desktop background for my computer screen. I had great fun with all the elements in it including the ink splatter photoshop brushes. I love digital design, you can be messy and creative but not make too much of a mess at the same time :)

Fireworks and bright colours!

This week at the Sarah Hurley Designs Challenge Blog we have our new monthly challenge up. We want to see Fireworks and Bright Colours! I created a notebook using the fantastic Curio Kit. I printed onto the outside and inside of the cover pages. I then filled the notebook with lots of different coloured pages (and different sizes too) and bound it all with a borrowed Bind It All (thank you Timi!!). It is a firework of colour!! I created the cover by digitally layering some elements from the kit over some of the papers. I also added some digital firework bursts onto the papers. This makes for a very fun and colourful notebook!
