Inking fun

Its anything goes challenge time over at Annabelle Stamps Blog. I have been trying to have fun crafting and enter their challenges again but have been so busy I have not gotten a chance to. So it was great to just have fun, break out my Annabelle supplies and create this card. I used up lots of scraps from my desk too so it was an added bonus! I used the Easter Blessings set for the frame for my image. I then used my favourite All Things Grow set to stamp the butterflies.

I inked these in two tones of distress inks and misted them before stamping on watercolour paper. I then fussy cut out the frame and painted it with distress inks to match my background papers. I used a gorgeous wood grain paper on kraft card.  I used some of the super cute Annabelle Gingham Twine and created a faux bow. I added some Pumpkin sprinkles then too.

Oh and I stamped the sentiment in grey beside the butterflies to make it subtle and make sure the butterflies and frame shone.

Show some metal

Over at Simon Says this week they want you to show some metal. This challenge has me wanting some ten seconds studio metal even more now. But alas, its not yet to be, between recent mortgage, tax and petrol increases, crafty spending has to be watched closely! So I went back to my usual game – improvising! I used some G45 scraps and a small metal frame to make a necklace. I covered the paper with glossy accents which gave them a lovely dimension. I added a leaf charm and some brads, and hung it off some lovely organza ribbon. I had great fun making this and am happy enough with my first ever attempt at making a necklace!

Ribbon Storage

Just a quick post on a handy way I have found of storing my ribbon. It was super cheap – E3.99 in Ikea. It looks a bit cluttered in the pic but it makes it so easy to see what I have at a glance and match it to the project I am working on! I dont have the largest ribbon collection in the world but I still like having it all at easy reach. I still have some spools of ribbon in drawers but I am still working on storage for them!

Simon Says – Distressed/Sanded

This week over at Simon Says Stamp and Show the theme is your Distressed/Sanded projects. I just about got my entry ready on time for this one, its been a busy week. I started off with a cheap €1 A5 notebook. I peeled off the holographic blue foil it was covered with and painted it chocolate brown, then crackle glazed it and topped it with ivory paint. When this was all dry I took some 7gypsies paper and sanded and distressed it and part covered the note book. I used lots of stamps, tissue tape, distress inks, embossing and Tim Holtz bits and pieces on this project. The recipient is in her final year of a zoology degree so I snuck in some dragonflies, birds and ladybugs to make it more personal to her. Thanks for stopping by :)

The front cover, personalised for Faye.  Spot the cute little ladybug – she loves them! I love the book corners. I had to reclaim them from a card I had made previously as they are the only 2 I have.

You can just make out the sanding and distressing on the paper and the paint job in this shot.

Some lovely metal foliage pieces to jazz up the spine a bit.

Inside I edged the cover with tissue tape to hide the mess from peeling off the original foil covering! I added a pocket with some more 7gypsies paper and added a tag for some more interest. The field notes piece was in my stash (no idea from where!) but it suited perfectly as they do a lot of field work on her course.

I added a ribbon for marking her place in the book.

I kept the back cover quite simple as I wanted the distressed paint job to be visible. I just added a bit more sanded and distressed 7gypsies paper, some stamping and a tag. I like the quote on the tag, it quite suits her personality!

I covered the spine with dictionary tissue tape. I love the effect it gives!

If you made down it this far then thanks so much for looking and enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Classy tag..

I made this double sided contrasting tag out of scraps left over from making this. The card and tag co-ordinate so nicely that I am considering making a gift bag to go with them both. Not yet however – I am trying to make myself use up a lot of my scraps on my desk before cutting into new papers!

This fits the challenge over at Stampin’ for the Weekend – ‘Tag It’, so im off to enter it over there.

Peach and aqua!

The challenge over at Pocket Full of Posies was a colour combo of peach and aqua. I had only just gotten some peach paper so I think it was a sign that I was to give it a try!  The aqua paper was some I had left over (*cough, been hoarding*) from the Crafty Alley July kit. I dry embossed my peach paper. The flowers I made from die cuts Timi had sent me. She was also kind to send me the stamped image . I dont have markers so I coloured her with my colouring pencils. You cant really see it in the photo very well but I put glossy accents on the bow in her hair and on her eyes to give them a bit of a shine! Oh and I used the sketch over at Sketch and Stash for the layout. The ribbon, the gems in the centre of the flowers and the aqua paper was all in my stash. Oh I am also entering it over at Annabelle Stamps, the theme is embossing.

Take ONE ribbon, TWO buttons and THREE punches or dies….

The challenge over at The Shabby Tea room this week was to create a card or project using ONE ribbon, TWO buttons and THREE punches or dies. I had never tried this type of challenge before so thought I would give it a shot.

My ribbon is obvious enough. One button is sewn onto the knot of the ribbon and the other button is on the watch face. The sentiment is stamped onto a die cut shape, the pocket watch is a die cut shape (both received in a swap, thanks Louise). My 3rd die/punch is the punch I used to round the edges, hope it counts!! The background is using my Tim Holtz texture fade – brickwork. I water coloured it using frayed burlap distress ink. I mixed in some Glimmer Mist in lemongrass to the ink when adding the water. It gives the brick work a subtle shimmer..A bit too subtle for the photo to pick up though!

Thanks for looking!!
