Floating high

Yay, I have finally gotten a chance to play along with Skipping Stones Designs sketch challenge. It seems like its been ages since I got to join in the challenge. I have been sick for the last two weeks so have dragged myself out of my sick bed on one or two occasions to try make myself feel better and have made one or two things. I usually have cards made pretty fast but its taking me ages lately, blame is on the germs :/ Hopefully I am on the mend and will be back to normal soon though. Well as normal as I can be :) Anyway here is the fantastic sketch we had to play with:

I saw the sketch and was going through my stamps in my head thinking about what I could do. Then I had one of those eureka moments and leapt out of bed* and headed for my craft room. (*Translated: sat up, coughed up a lung and shuffled like a 90 year old to my craft room). Here is what I came up with:

I had great fun paper piecing the hot air balloon and inking up the sky. Its hard to tell in the image but the clouds have been defined with a pearl paint dabber so they have some texture and subtle shimmer.

Fascinating facinator….

At Simon Says this week the theme is hats. I decided to take an old hair band and create a variation on a hat – a fascinator. These are hair accessories, usually clips or pins with feathers, flowers, or lace, and are very popular at the moment. They have actually been around since the 18th century, when large feathered and beaded hair accessories were the height of fashion. Funnily enough, a “fascinator” initially meant a lacy, fancy head covering for ladies to wear with their evening clothes. Ok, education over, here is my take on Simon Says hat theme….I used grunge paper, a old hair band covered in ribbon, pearl paint dabber, flowers, old paper distress ink, feathers….

I am quite happy with the result, especially since it started off like this….

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend folk!!

Fluttering by in blue

I had a play with another frame paint and stamps. I painted the frame a pale blue and then used the Annabelle stamps set All things grow to decorate it. I added two pearls to the butterflies bodies and then inked up two white cherry blossoms to match the colour. I just inked up a small scene to put into the frame, mostly just because I was having fun with the stamps :)

We’ll Always Have Paris..

Dont you just love quick projects? A swipe of a blue paint dabber, a dash of pearl paint dabber, stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp and stamp, a few dabs of glue, a sprinkle of pearls and c’est ça – done! I had to photograph it with no image as I kept getting too much reflection from the glossy paper. But at lease we will always have Paris :)

I am entering this in the Simon Says Stamp challenge this week – Anything Goes!!

One for the girls….

I made this for the first ever challenge over at Pocket full of Posies. The theme was one for the girls. I think this has to be the girliest card I have ever made. I really am not a very girly girl so I find it hard sometimes making really girlie things! I made all the flowers on this card by stamping them out in two colours and then painstakingly cutting them all out. I then stuck the small ones on top of some big ones with foam dots and stuck them all on with foam dots.  I put little blue pearls in the center of some of the flowers too. The fairy image is a wonderful free digi from Steady On. I coloured her with colouring pencils as I dont have anything fancier!!

Hope you like it, and good luck to Pocket Full of Posies and their new blog!! :D

Black, white and glimmer mist!

This was made for challenge 95 over at clean and simple stamping. I silver glimmer misted some white card stock  and stamped the scalloped boarder. I then mounted this on a card made of black card stock. The bird image is a digi I picked up as a freebie somewhere, I just cant remember where at the moment though :( The sentiment and flower were stamped and the flower accented with a little flower pearl. Flower ribbon at the bottom and presto, done. I am really liking black & white cards at the moment!!

Sketch and stash….

This is my entry for the Sketch and Stash challenge no 37 over here. The pink papers are my new papers from the Crafty Alley June Kit and the stamps were from AC Sentiments also from Crafty Alley. The corrugated card, butterfly ribbon and pink ribbon on the tag are from my stash. The tag is removable and the sentiment will go on here when its dry enough to stamp on again. It was made from plain cream card stamped on in two different colour inks. I have edged it in baby pink liquid pearls, but they didnt cone out so great in the image :( Anyhoo, hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by!
