Baby Girl Birthday

I recently had to make a card for a baby girls first birthday. I don’t have many stamps that work for cards like this. So I cut the 1 using my eCraft and pulled this all together. The pink scalloped circle, the butterflies and the number 1 and the happy birthday stamping are all actually nearly the same shade in real life. The photo seemed to throw the colours off a bit. I matted the papers on grey card to make them pop and then mounted on a yellowy/cream card base.

The scalloped circle is on foam pads for dimension. I had to keep in mind this card was being posted though so couldn’t go too crazy with embellishments and dimension! Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you like it!

Clean and Simple fun

This week at Sentimental Sundays we are going Clean and Simple (CAS). We are sponsored this week by Bugaboo Digi Stamps.

We also have a bonus sketch for you this week. If you use the bonus you get a second entry into the challenge.

Quite ironically I created this weeks sketch but forgot to use it when making my card. Whoops!! I did use a image from Bugaboo, the Butterfly Silhouette. I printed it and a sentiment directly onto a card blank and added a bit of colour to it. I then scored a border around it and added a gem. Super clean and simple and fast!

I find it so hard to get a good picture of white cards, sigh! Thanks for stopping by today and make sure to check out the rest of the DT”s beautiful CAS work!

Its been a blast!

Today it is sketch 95 at Skipping Stones designs, and my final week as guest designer! Its been a real blast, I have loved working with the sketches and along side all the regular DT and guest DT – thank you for having me SSD!!

So here is the sketch….

And here is my card. I embossed some card with a home made butterfly embossing folder and inked it up to match my DP. For two of the layers on the sketch I used acetate stamped on to give the layer effect without being too overpowering. I used the Grunge set for the stamped acetate and Dandelion Dreams for my sentiment and butterflies.

Make sure to check out the rest of the teams amazing creations, they are all amazing as always!!

Busy bee….

Busy bee, thats me this week. We have been doing up the hall, stairs & landing in the house and it seems to be taking every moment of our holiday from work this week. I have been exhausted at the end of each day and my hands have been so sore from painting that I have not gone into my craft room much at all! However this morning I got up a bit earlier and decided to play along with the sketch challenge at Skipping Stones Designs. The sketch is fantastic and I couldn’t wait to try it out. Here is my quick card….

I used the Grunge set for the background, Sentiment frames set for the sentiment and frame and Heartsong for the butterfly. I used a pale purple circle die cut from my scrap pile and a purple strip of card also from the scrap pile, so it was a nice quick and simple card and I enjoyed making it. It was straight back to the grindstone in the hall after this one :/ The plumber is coming tomorrow to install my beautiful new radiator, then we can put the floor back down and start finishing up on it all, phew!

PS: It was a great morning this morning to discover two of my projects had been featured in two different places – The Graphics Fairy DIY and Scrap Mix - thanks guys :D

10th times a charm!!

For 9 challenges in a row now I have entered the Skipping Stones sketch challenge with the same set – Funny Coffee. While I do love this set it was getting quite challenging trying to use it sketch after sketch! Luckily the postman finally arrived with some new SSD stamping goodies :) I used the super sketch for this weeks challenge created by Laurie Schmidlin, its a keeper of a sketch!!

I used the Grunge set on this card. I stamped the wood grain stamp from the set onto my card base. I then used one of the other stamps to stamp a pattern on the green card stock and also onto the corrugated card heart. I used the Thanks sentiment from the grunge set too. I used the adorable butterflies from the Dandelion Dreams set too. I had great fun with this sketch and getting me new stamps all inky – its makes up for making it at 7am on a day off because I just couldn’t make myself sleep in!

Dandelion and butterfly mirror….

Step 1: Take 1 ikea mirror and paint it a bright blue….

Step 2: Let sit in your craft room not knowing what to do with it for about a month or two after it is painted.

Step 3: Take delivery of the Dandelion Dreams Skipping Stones Design stamp set.

Step 4: Just as you are going to bed decide that you are not going to be able to sleep unless you ink up the aforementioned stamp set.

Step 5: Grab some black archival ink and get stamping

Step 6: Sit back and enjoy the fruits of your stamping frenzy….

Step 7: Finally go to bed….

Step 8: Wake up the next morning with black archival ink on your hands still as you were too sleepy at step 7 to clean up properly.

Step 9: Have a moment of panic thinking that you have been stamping in your sleep – then remember the mirror that you just ‘had’ to finish and relax

Step 10: Go into craft room and have another look at the mirror just to make sure it is as amazing as you though it was with a sleep starved brain – phew it is!

Step 11: Pick up Dandelion Dreams set again and start making a card….

Step 12: Realise you have a job to get to and panic and get ready for work in a rush!!

Say it in purple and blue….

This week at Annabelle Stamps they want you to Say it in Purple and Blue. This challenge will run for two weeks due to next Friday being Good Friday, so plenty of time to join in!

This is also my last guest post for Annabelle Stamps, and I just wanted to say thank you to them for having me and its been so much fun! Right onto my project. I took a small notebook and covered it in white paper. I then used my All things Grow set to stamp some grass all around the bottom of the notebook (front and back) in a olive green ink. I then clear embossed this to give it some interest and to stop it from smearing when I inked over it! I then inked over the grass with Milled Lavender distress ink – a pale purple shade. I then inked the sky blue with Tumbled Glass. I think this may be my favorite colour distress ink, I do love my blue!!

I used colour box chalk inks to ink up my butterflies in a two toned colour – blue and purple. The butterflies then got some shimmer added to their wings. The bookplate I inked in the blue colour box chalk ink and then went over with the purple one. Its a bit hard to see in the photo but you can see the blue come through a bit in real life. I then used the sentiment from the All things grow set and masked it so that I could split it onto the two lines. I added two vibrant purple sprinkles to the bookplate but they came out looking black in my photo :/

I added a pretty blue ribbon to mark my place in the notebook too.

Make sure to head over to Annabelle Stamps and see the fantastic DT’s work and then join in the challenge!!

The little gifts….

I want to enter this into the Little Gifts Challenge in the Moxie Fab World so I have split it out from my previous post so that it was easier to follow.

I picked up this solid wooden letter in TK Max (TJ Max). It was perfect for a gift for a friend, but it needed a lot of prettying up! I painted it a aqua colour and then stamped it all over with a flourish stamp. I then die cut butterflies in two colours of Core’dinations papers and embossed and sanded them and then prettied them back up with some pearls.
