Flying by for a quick visit….

Just a quick one from me today. I had a bit of time today to have some crafty fun so I decided to combine the Skipping Stones challenge with the Moxie Fab World Cutting and Trimming challenge….

I cut all the papers and cut out the bird. Its hard to tell from the photo but the branch is glued directly to the page but the bird is raised up on foam dots to give it more dimension and depth. Right back to work now, I am a busy bee!!

Get Daring with Decorative Tape….

Over at Moxie Fab World they are challenging us to Get Daring with Decorative Tape!! They have some stunning projects on show that really inspire you to think outside the box with this one! I have some Tim Holtz tissue tape, but I wanted to do something a bit different with this one. So I raided the tool box and got out a roll of masking tape. I tore off a few strips of roughly the size I wanted. I stuck these to my non stick craft mat (one of the best ever inventions!) and stamped on the tape with a script tape in a lovely olive colour ink. When this was dry I stamped a bird on branch stamp in chocolate ink. I let all these dry and then peeled them off the mat and stuck to the card. I left a slight gap between each piece as I was going for a rough and relaxed look as opposed to straight lines and everything lined up perfectly. I added some sprinkles that actually nearly match the ink perfectly! And voilà, done!!

I love the concept of my card, I am just not sure if it worked out the way I saw it in my head. It is definately one to try again however! Here is a close up shot of the tape and bird..

Make sure to head on over and check out the challenge, its Moxie fab!! :D

Simon says show a tag..

Over at Simon Says Stamp and Show this week they want to see a tag. I had great fun with this one. I got to use my new Tim Holts tag and book plate die. I used it to cut the tag shape. I then embossed and inked to my hearts content. I inked the butterflies with TH distress inks and stamped with a TH script stamp. I used the TH cage die and placed the butterflies on it. I added some lace trim on the bottom and some G45 butterfly paper to the top of the tag. I added some bling to the bird cage and also to the butterfly bodies. Some Wild Orchid cherry blossoms and a feather were the finishing touch. Hope you like it!!

Fresh Living

This is my entry for the challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room – the theme is ‘Fresh Living’ and the project has to be inspired by nature and/or using green. I think I managed to get all those elements onto my card! I used one of my Tim Holtz on the edge dies to scallop the edge of the card and then laced some ribbon through it. The image was stamped and coloured using distress inks. The paper used is K and Company, I love the big bold pattern on it. Anyway thanks for stopping by and looking :~)

The thing….

Your guess is as good as mine as to what this is. I was making some flowers with the wonderful papers from the Crafty Alley September kit. I then decided to cut out the bird and cage die from the paper too. I had the die cut shape sitting on my desk for ages. Its covered in paper from the August kit and stamped with a script stamp. I had an idea for it but it never happened. So for some reason I decided to punch some holes in it and tie the birdcage on with twine. Then glimmer mist it. Then add the flower and leaves. The lucky birdie is escaping because even he doesn’t know what’s going on. But thats art right? It doesnt have to have a point, there is no reason, it just is.

Well that’s what I am going to keep telling myself anyway!!

Mark my….page

This is just a quick little bookmarker I made for my dad. He loves reading and I take after him big time in that sense. He always uses a bookmarker though. Where I use….anything that happens to be near me, a straw, scrap of paper, bank card, or just (eek) fold down the corner of the pages!!

I kept it simple and flat so that when he uses it his book will actually close with it in it! I had great fun using my new embossing powders – my first time heat embossing.  I embossed the script in clear powder, then inked up the bookmarker. I then gold embossed a stamp at the bottom and embossed the bird too. I added a TH charm. Is my dad wonderful or is reading wonderful? Both :)

Black, white and glimmer mist!

This was made for challenge 95 over at clean and simple stamping. I silver glimmer misted some white card stock  and stamped the scalloped boarder. I then mounted this on a card made of black card stock. The bird image is a digi I picked up as a freebie somewhere, I just cant remember where at the moment though :( The sentiment and flower were stamped and the flower accented with a little flower pearl. Flower ribbon at the bottom and presto, done. I am really liking black & white cards at the moment!!

Sketch and stash….

This is my entry for the Sketch and Stash challenge no 37 over here. The pink papers are my new papers from the Crafty Alley June Kit and the stamps were from AC Sentiments also from Crafty Alley. The corrugated card, butterfly ribbon and pink ribbon on the tag are from my stash. The tag is removable and the sentiment will go on here when its dry enough to stamp on again. It was made from plain cream card stamped on in two different colour inks. I have edged it in baby pink liquid pearls, but they didnt cone out so great in the image :( Anyhoo, hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by!
