Day 12!!

It’s the 12th and final day of the 12 Tags of Christmas! Tim’s day 12 tag can be found here.

I loved the vintage shabby style of Tim’s tag today. I didn’t have any sheets of the tissue paper so I just got regular tissue paper and stamped some music notes on it and then followed Tim’s technique, using Mod Podge instead of glue and seal. I created a strange tissue tape flower, and stole some tinsel from my Christmas tree! I had none of the adhesive tape for the word ‘Wish’ but I used the silver mirror board again, and crumpled the letters a bit to get the same effect as on Tim’s tag. I had no doll part or wings or crown charms. So I changed the sentiment on the house form to ‘all things bright’ and added a star instead!

Day 11!!

It’s the second last day of the 12 Tags of Christmas! Tims Day 11 tag can be found here.

I loved the technique that Tim used on his tag today. The method of shrinking the plastic in the UTEE while coating it was fantastic. However I simply didn’t have the time today to do this. I have no large Christmas stamps so I stamped a sentiment and cut it out and inked it. I created a background similar to Tim’s and then came my big cheat! I took a trip over to the Graphics Fairy and downloaded a image of some holly and berries and a fantastic Victorian (and blue) Santa!

I printed these both out and added to my tag. I put a layer of glossy accents on the holly to get a glassy look like on Tim’s tag. This little cheat made my tag quick and easy to make. I am looking forward to having some free time to try out the fantastic technique though!!

Linking up to The Graphics Fairy Brag Monday party!!

Day 10!!

I loved Tim’s tag today, it was very vintage Christmas looking. I had fun with the technique for making the baubles that he did also. I didnt actually have packaging tape that was wide enough for my images so I just slightly overlapped smaller strips of tape. (Note: if you dont overlap the smaller strips of tape when you remove the paper backing your tape will come apart and your image will be in separate strips!!)

I also didnt have adhesive foil tape so I just used mirror board and spread a very thin layer of glossy accents on the mirror board. I used my finger to spread it out very thin.

This was a real fun technique to try out and I shall definately be trying it again in the future!!

Day 9!!

Tim’s Day 9 tag can be found here. It is full of great techniques as always!

I used a damask stamp and stamped my background in Forest Moss ink and clear embossed it. I then inked the red on and embossed again as Tim did. I added the word peace and the flourish easily enough. I didnt have the candle die though, so I improvised. I used a hinge from the hinge/keyhole/key die and turned it into a candle stick. I painted it black and painted the central spike white to make a short stubby candle! I added an orange gem to make the candle flame. In real life this looks very effective! I added some leaves cut on my eCraft and some pearls coloured red to make holly berries! A few pearls on the bottom of the candle holder decorated the ‘candle stick’ and also hid the holes from the hinge die :)

My tag ended up looking very Gothic without me meaning to. I guess it will make a great bookmarker for all my Edgar Allen Poe books though!!

Day 8!!

Day 8 is here and you can see Tim’s day 8 tag here. It is a fantastic Steampunk inspired tag today and very untraditional Christmas tag, but fantastic none the less!!

I got very inspired by Tim’s tag and used some of the techniques he used on his tag. I didnt have any of the stamps, cog charms, pen nibs, light bulbs etc that Tim used on his tag. So as usual I improvised.

I used a paint dabber as a resist on the tag and then inked it up and fade stamped a clock stamp. I cut some cogs out of light card and inked them up to look old and rusted. I added some antique tickets and a hinge die for a bit more steampunk effect. My ’25′ and ‘Joy’ were inked up and then added glossy accents to them for more dimension.

Its is not very Christmassy but it was great fun inking and painting all the elements and again working with what I had!

I loved getting inky with this tag today :)

Day 7 Christmas Tag!!

This tag is created for Day 7 of the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas. I really enjoyed making the background on this tag tonight. I inked up the background with ink and splatters. I have a music note stamp so used that. But I had no crackle stamp. To improvise I crumpled up a scrap of paper, dabbed it on a ink pad and attacked the tag with it :)

I had Kraft glassine but no alcohol inks to colour it with and no green ink bright enough to give a good colour to it. So I painted it with a paint dabber and heat set it. I then crumpled it up and cut out leaves from it.  The berries are card candy coloured red and adhered with foam dots. The sentiment is a Waltzing Mouse sentiment from the Seasonal Remedies set. I absolutely love this set, it has been used on nearly all my Christmas things this year!

I am entering this tag into the Waltzing Mouse Christmas Tag challenge, you can find this challenge here.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Day 6!!

Today is the half way mark, day 6 only 6 more to go! Tim’s day 6 tag can be found here.

I didnt have the embossing folder that Tim used but I have the original patchwork embossing folder. I embossed a piece of mirror board and then painted it with paint dabber’s.  I sanded but only had rough grade sandpaper so my silver got roughed up and scratched a lot, but it adds to the look! I inked it all over with walnut stain like Tim did and then clear embossed it. I had nothing that would work fora wreath charm so I just used a snowflake that I grunged up a bit!

Day 5!!

Tim’s tag today looks quite simple. However when you see how he has created it he has used quite a lot of products and techniques. I have no alcohol inks, no sticky acetate and no reverse stamps.

So what I did with my tag was strip it right back. Tim’s tag looks like a inked background with text embossed clear on a white tag and then inked up a red background. So thats exactly what I did! I had no Christmas background stamps so I used 3 stamps from the Seasonal Remedies Waltzing Mouse Stamp set. I repeat stamped them all trying to make a pattern. I then clear embossed them and inked up my background.

My wreath was even more of a cheat. I have no leaf die’s so I simply snipped a few sprigs off of a fake plant I had in my house and formed them into a wreath shape, super quick and easy!

Day 4!!

Day 4 already, can you believe! Today’s tag from Tim can be seen here. Its a beauty!!

I really enjoyed the colours of today’s tag, blue is my favourite colour! I luckily had a die cut of the snowman from when I did a die swap last year. So I inked up a background, crackled the snowman and added some snowflakes. If you dont have the snowman die you could always make your own snowman using a circle punch. Simply punch out two or three circles and stack one on top of the other as you would if making a real snow man!

This was a nice and fun tag to make. Lots of inking, stickling and generally getting inky, what more could you ask for :)

Day 3!!

I am a day late posting this as, well I forgot to! I posted it on the Crafting Ireland blog and then forgot to post it in here too!!

I had no large text Christmas stamps so I made a collage of Christmas stamps and inked them all up different colours. I embossed the bottom of the tag with an inked embossing folder to give the effect of colour in behind the snowflakes. I added some leaves and a flourish. I made berries from card candy and coloured them red. I then used twine and a bell for the top of the tag.

It is very different from Tims tag but different is fun right?!
