Lovely lace..

Its Thursday and that means PaperPlay Challenge day!!This week we are sponsored by In2Stamps with a €10 voucher up for grabs!

Our theme this week is Lovely Lace. We want to see you using lace on your projects. I don’t tend to use lace very often on my projects so this was a bit of a challenge for me. However I found some lace trim and a paper lace doily and went from there.

I added a bit of a vintage touch by stamping on red cardstock with a vintage damask stamp and covered a die cut butterfly with vintage script tissue tape. Is anyone else as addicted to tissue tape as I am? I seriously have to curb my use of it as I don’t want my limited stash of it to run out, but I just love the stuff! The heart the butterfly is mounted onto is red felt, that didn’t show up too well in the photo :/

Challenge Artecut

There is a super challenge going on over at Artcut. You can be in with the chance to test Artecut and win some fantastic prizes when you enter. All you need to do is blog or Facebook about the challenge and let them know you have done so. You can see the complete details here.

You need to enter by the 30th of January midnight to blog@artemio.be They will then select 20 people to recieve some Artecut products. These 20 people then have to create something with the products and post a picture to a Flickr gallery. There will then be 3 winners picked from this gallery!

There was another great sketch challenge running over at Skipping Stones Designs and I managed to whip up a super quick card to play along. Every part of this card came from my scraps pile on my desk so it was nice to reduce that a bit! I used the SSD Grunge set to stamp on the butterflies and a sentiment from the Heart Song SSD set.

Die Cuts

This week at Sentimental Sundays we want to see die cuts on your projects. Make sure you include a sentiment too! We are sponsored by The Paper Shelter. The design team were kindly provided with some images and I used this adorable Hilarious Cupid image. I coloured him in with pencils. He got red Elton John-esque glasses as I happened to be listening to the radio at the time I was colouring him and they were playing some Elton John!

I die cut him out using oval Neastabilities, die cut the large heart and punched out the small ones. I die cut the flourishes too. The background paper is an embossed Core’dinations paper that I sanded to emphasise the stars on it.

Embossing fun….

I am having great fun with the Moxie Fab World challenges lately. Today I got to quickly play along with the Embossing and Debossing challenge. I used a home made butterfly embossing folder to emboss my teal card stock. I love making my own embossing folders, as well as being a clever way of saving money it also makes me feel good to get even more use out of my dies!

I sanded the raised portions to add a bit more oomf. I then used another embossing folder to deboss a pattern onto the bottom portion of white card stock.

I love the teal and white colour combination, it is one of my favourites, it always looks so clean and crisp!

Just a quick one from me today. I had a bit of time today to have some crafty fun so I decided to combine the Skipping Stones challenge with the Moxie Fab World Cutting and Trimming challenge….

I cut all the papers and cut out the bird. Its hard to tell from the photo but the branch is glued directly to the page but the bird is raised up on foam dots to give it more dimension and depth. Right back to work now, I am a busy bee!!

The Punches Challenge..

Over at Moxie Fab World there is a great challenge to use your punches in an innovative way. I dont know how innovative my use of punches are but to be honest it was good to just be using my punches. They tend to be a little bit neglected by me. I also only have about 5 of them so that in itself is a bit of a challenge!

I used some Christmas paper from my stash for my background, I love the look of this paper. I then used a circle punch to cut out the white and red circles. I punched the heart out of the centre of the white circles. I then matted these with some more red circles. I paid these across the bottom of my card and raised the white ones on foam tape to add a little extra dimension. I then added two larger hearts and a banner across them for a sentiment.

This week at Paper Play Challenges we are all In Stitches! We want to see stitching on your projects, hand, machine or faux, they all count!

As you can see from my card I am not very good at hand stitching, but it adds a nice rustic touch to my vintage themed masculine card. A man wouldn’t notice the wonky stitching anyway, right? (I wont even mention the amount of times I stitched my finger to the card either!!)

I used an image from the Raindrop Echo stamps Vintage Transportation set, I love using this set for man cards! I added some cork flourishes, crumpled up tissue paper and lots of inking up. Oh and of course lots of crooked stitching.
